MEET THE TRAINER

Kelly Johnson

Kelly’s lifelong love for animals led her to finding a passion in helping dog owners enhance their relationships with their beloved companions. She teaches people how to open the line of communication with their dogs so they can live a much more peaceful, happy, and adventurous life together. Her unique training method brings clarity to dogs in a way that helps them understand our expectations of what we want and what we don’t want. This training process brings the owners quick, positive results and the ability of having off leash trust and reliability with their dogs.

Experience & Training

Kelly has professionally trained dogs for over a decade. She has had hands on experience training 1000+ dogs of different sizes, breeds, ages, and temperaments. Kelly began her formal dog training education at National K9 School for Dog Trainers, located in Columbus, OH. She completed their Master Trainer’s course in the fall of 2008 and started her own training business in her hometown of Rochester, MN. Then in April 2010, she completed the That’s My Dog E-cademy Program located in Hazel Green, WI. During the program, she was offered a training position at the company. In May 2010, she began working for That’s My Dog, owned and operated by world-renowned trainer, Robin MacFarlane.

Over the next 7 years, Kelly worked as Head Trainer and was fortunate enough to help hundreds of clients build amazing relationships with their dogs. As the business grew and moved to Dubuque, IA, she assisted in coaching the additional training staff members. She was also involved with helping teach other talented dog trainers from around the world who came through the That’s My Dog E-cademy Program.

Each year, Kelly attends continuing education seminars ranging in topics from training methods, dog psychology, dog health and wellness, pack socialization, and more, learning from many accomplished dog professionals. She firmly believes continued education makes her a more knowledgeable, well-rounded trainer for her clients.

In April 2017, Kelly opened Mayhem to Manners Dog Training in Dodgeville, WI. Kelly is devoted to her client’s success and enjoys engaging her clients in a fun, charismatic way which makes training enjoyable for everyone. Her mission is to bring joy and balance back into the homes of many families through effective leadership with their dogs.
